About this part
What it does
The drum turns on two bearings at the back, protected by an oil seal. When the seal fails, water reaches the bearings and they start to roar. Usually fitted by a technician.
Signs it needs replacing
- Loud rumbling or roaring when spinning
- Drum moves up and down when you lift it
- Rusty brown streaks at the back of the drum
